Anyone who’s ever seen a single Leprechaun film has been both anxious and circumspect since the announcement of a planned prequel. Especially since WWE Studios is behind the project.
But WWE has actually had a hand in some solid stuff. They seem to take their horror rather eriously, and while this first look is brief, it looks as though the new Leprechaun: Origins may stick to that theme and boast a darker tone than the majority of the franchise.
As long as the makeup/SFX crew can ensure that Hornswoggle looks a little less… Hornswoggle, we just might discover a kick ass flick. We’ll see what the future holds in store.
Warwick Davis will not return to don the nasty makeup once again. This time WWE wrestler, Hornswoggle (Dylan Postl) will approach the role of the antagonist. Brendan Fletcher (Freddy vs. Jason), Teach Grant (The Tall Man), Andrew Dunbar (Alien Trespass) and Stephanie Bennett (Grave Encounters 2) also star. Zach Lipovsky directs from a story written by Matt Venne and Harris Wilkinson.
Look for Leprechaun: Origins to arrive sometime this summer. You can check out the new sneak peek below.
