On This Day in Horror History: The Dead Rose at Dawn… Again!

Exactly 10 years ago today Zack Snyder’s amazing remake of George A. Romero’s epic zombie tale, Dawn of the Dead hit theaters. Unlike most undead features, Dawn scored impressively at the box office. Debuting at number one, Dawn of the Dead beat out pics like The Passion of the Christ and Taking Lives with a $26 million opening weekend.

The film went on to earn roughly $59 million domestically and $102 million worldwide. It also introduced the world to the immense talent of Snyder, who’s gone on to direct blockbuster hits 300, Watchmen and Man of Steel.
