Horror DVD and Blu-ray Releases: July 22, 2014

B-movie fanatics rejoice, it is a good week to be a disc collector. A load of goofy low budget affairs are hitting discs, but that’s not the only thing to keep your eyes open for. Two of the year’s absolute best hit shelves this week. And you need to see them. All Cheerleaders Die (read our review right here) and The Returned (we’ll have a review up in the next few days!) come highly, highly recommended from us! Here’s a full breakdown of what’s new in the disc world this week!

100 Tears: Director’s Cut (Unearthed Films): Available for the first time with never before seen gore and added extra footage! 100 TEARS: the underground cult favorite can be seen for the first time, as the director intended! After being accused of crimes he did not commit, a lonely circus performer exacts his revenge on those who unjustly condemned him. The act sparks something inside of him which he cannot stop and now, years later, his inner-demons have truly surfaced. Part urban legend, part tabloid sensationalism… he is now an unstoppable murderous juggernaut, fueled only by hate. Going to the circus will never be the same!

All Cheerleaders Die (Image) – DVD and blu-ray: Teenage outsider Maddy (Caitlin Stasey, I, Frankenstein) is keeping some dark secrets and holding a serious grudge against the captain of the Blackfoot High football team. When Maddy joins the school’s elite and powerful cheerleading squad, she convinces her new friends to help inflict her revenge. After a late-night party goes awry, their plans take an unexpected turn for the worst and all of the girls die. A sinister, supernatural power intervenes and the girls mysteriously appear at school the next day with a killer new look… and some unusual new appetites. “Sexy, campy, funny, subversive, angsty and most importantly fun” (The Hollywood Reporter) ALL CHEERLEADERS DIE is a rebellious horror-comedy that redefines the genre.

Black Water Creek: Legend of Sasquatch (1-800 Prime CD): Detectives Shaw and Willis are called to Black Water Creek to investigate a string of serial killings. Someone or something is killing people and driving locals into paranoid delusions with eyewitnesses saying it’s a Sasquatch. The detectives soon learn that some legends are better left alone.

Blood Lake (Asylum): After chomping through massive fish populations, thousands of starved lampreys begin attacking the citizens of a sleepy lake town, leaving the community scrambling to stay alive.

Bloodsuckers from Outer Space (Whacked Movies): An invisible alien presence invades rural Texas, revoltingly killing its victims, reanimating their corpses, and sending them on a bloodthirsty rampage. Scientists at a local research facility set out to study the phenomenon while top military brass are hell-bent on nuking the bloodsuckers. A young photographer and his girlfriend find themselves ensnared in the bloody mayhem. Taking a comic swipe at drive-in exploitation films, this Horror Sci-Fi farce is so true to the genre that it joins the ranks of the movies it pokes fun at.

Blue Ruin (Anchor Bay) – DVD and blu-ray: BLUE RUIN is a classic American revenge story, following a mysterious outsider whose quiet life is turned upside down when he returns to his childhood home, determined to carry out an act of vengeance. His inexperience as an assassin lands him in a brutal fight to protect his estranged family in this critically-acclaimed new thriller by director Jeremy Saulnier (MURDER PARTY). Starring Macon Blair, Devin Ratray, Amy Hargreaves and Eve Plumb.

Bordello Death Tales (1-800 Prime CD): Death, Booze, Sex, Ghoulish Grindhouse Murders Galore and more in this terrifying anthology film brought to you by three of the most fiercely original, independent directors, working in horror today.

Cell 213 (Entertainment One): Cell 213 becomes home to Michael Gray, a cocky young attorney, after a gruesome twist of circumstance lands him in the South River State Penitentiary framed for the murder of an incarcerated client. Unnatural forces are causing prisoners to kill themselves at abnormal rates and Michael soon discovers that matters of guilt and innocence are not as cut and dry as he would like to believe trapped in this nightmarish cell.

Closed Circuit Extreme (Jinga): After their friend goes missing, a young couple break into the house of a suspected serial killer and plant hidden cameras but when they attempt to retrieve the evidence they are trapped and are forced to fight for their lives.

The Harsh Light of Day (Jinga): Daniel Shergold (Dan Richardson), a writer on the occult, is a happily married man until the day his wife is murdered, and he is left paralysed in a brutal, seemingly random attack, by a group of masked intruders. When the police are unable to find the perpetrators, Daniel is left in a pit of bitterness and anger. Desperately seeking vengeance, Daniel is brought to the attention of a mysterious stranger who changes everything. He offers Daniel something he hadn’t dared hope for, something that shouldn’t even be possible. He will help him walk, help him search, help him find vengeance – and it soon becomes clear that his wife’s murder wasn’t entirely without purpose. All this, but at one hell of a price…

Haunted Trailer (Matabo): Two goofy hick brothers (Elvis and Aaron), their crazy redneck Momma and sexy sister (Prissy) must exorcise their mobile home of an ancient demon set free to fulfill an end-times prophecy, with the help of a low rent TV evangelist named Reverend Wiggems, or the world will be destroyed.

The Last Horror Movie (Jinga): A break out at a maximum security prison and the slaying of a young waitress at a roadside diner mark the beginning of a brutal killing spree, but the identity of the serial killer and his true motivation remain a mystery until the films terrifying end.

The Perfect House (Wild Eye): A Young couple’s dream home turns into a house of horrors when the disturbing, violent acts of three generations of doomed families is reawakened for them to witness. Now they must fight for their lives to escape the terrible secrets hidden within the walls of THE PERFECT HOUSE. Starring horror favorites Felissa Rose and Jonathan Thiersten of the SLEEPAWAY CAMP series.

Resurrection (Polyscope): A small town in America is suddenly inflicted by a wave of irrational violence. Both scientists and local law enforcement rally to determine the cause of the madness that is sweeping the small town. What they find its the food that is driving everyone crazy and they cannot stop. A college student on his way home for Easter is met by this path of madness and must fight his way through this anarchy in order to survive.

The Returned (Phase 4 Films): In a post-zombie world, the infected live normal lives by taking a valuable retroviral drug every 24 hours. However, with supplies of the drug quickly running out, those who have returned are being targeted by violent anti-zombie protesters. Kate and her Returned husband Alex decide to flee the city, but with the zombie population rising, the government closing in on them, and their supply running out, they become more and more desperate as they search for a way for Alex to survive.

Serial Killer Slaughter Fest: Stalkers, Slashers And Psychos Collection (Worldwide Multimedia): For those who crave the Carnage and Gore of Frenzied Killing Sprees, here’s a Home Fried Film Fest of the Sick, Senseless and Warped Serial Killers in Cult Film History!
