Eric England’s ‘Roadside’ Finally Picked Up for Distribution
Eric England’s Roadside was a surprisingly engaging affair. I’m not a huge fan of films that are confined to one single small location, but this one does a fair job of breaking the mold. It’s been on my recommendation list since catching a screener sometime back, and it’s nice to know the movie will finally have a home with disc collectors in the near future.
Check out some details from the official Press Release:
Image Entertainment, an RLJ Entertainment (NASDAQ: RLJE) brand, has acquired all US rights to the action thriller ROADSIDE. Written and directed by Eric England (Madison County, Contracted), the film stars Ace Marrero (“Scorpion,” “Body of Proof”), Katie Stegeman (Madison County, Contracted), Lionel D. Carson (“The Unit”) and Jack E. Curenton (“Tim and Eric Awesome Show”). Mark Ward, RLJ Entertainment’s Senior Vice President of Acquisitions for the Image brands, made the announcement today.
“The suspense and timing of the scenes on this film hark back to the days of Hitchcock,” said Ward. “These are the elements audiences are looking for in a thriller and we’re excited to be working with Eric, Daniel and Ace again.”
ROADSIDE tells the story of Dan and Mindy Summers, who are on a road trip along a desolate mountain highway. When Dan is forced to exit the SUV to remove a dead tree blocking their path, their journey takes a turn. They suddenly find themselves held hostage on the side of the road, and trapped in their car by a mysterious gunman. They must fight for their lives in a sadistic game of cat and mouse set against a backdrop of numbing cold, pitch darkness and raw terror. ROADSIDE drips with suspense until the very last frame.
