‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation’ is Even Worse Than You Remember (Review)
Written by: Matt Molgaard
Directed by: Kim Henkel
Cast: Renée Zellweger, Matthew McConaughey, Robert Jacks
Let me be blunt: This movie absolutely sucks, and that’s why I’m not going to spend much time on the clunker. It’s generic, far from frightening and somehow, manages to come off as a near parody. There isn’t a single element of the flick that can be deemed enjoyable, although it’s profundly heavy on annoyance.
15 minutes in and you’re ready to call this one quits.
A group of four loser high schoolers find themselves on a deserted rural road. They break down and from there, they of course run into a murderous family with sinister, sinister intentions. One by one the films “protagonists” (they really are impossible to life, in the least) are eliminated by these lunatics, but we never care.
We never care because the character development is embarrassing, and the dialogue is so bad you’ll stop to ask yourself if this is a comedy rather than a horror piece. Throw some terrible acting and completely absurd decision making (just what in the hell is going on with Leatherface?? This goober looks like an absolute joke!) and you have what must be considered one of, if not the worst picture of the franchise.
Avoid it all costs.
