‘13 Cameras’, ‘Green Room’, ‘Carnival of Souls’ and More Hit DVD and Blu-ray Today
While some of our trusty VOD outlets have come up a bit short in regards to recent selections, we’re continuing to see some huge disc releases on a weekly basis. This week we’re seeing a handful of compelling new films hit discs as well as some genuine classics getting the restorations and re-releases they certainly deserve.
Here’s a look at the new movies hitting discs today!
13 Cameras
In the pulse-pounding thriller 13 Cameras, newly-weds Ryan (PJ McCabe) and Claire (Brianne Moncrief) move into a new house across the country, only to find out that their marital issues are the least of their problems. Unbeknownst to them, their grim and lascivious landlord (Neville Archambault) has been spying on them from day one, and he has evil intentions.
The Birds
Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds is an unforgettable masterpiece that is considered one of the most terrifying films from the Master of Suspense. When beautiful, blonde Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren) travels to Bodega Bay in pursuit of eligible bachelor Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor), she is inexplicably attacked by a seagull. Suddenly, thousands of birds begin to flock into town, preying on schoolchildren and residents in a terrifying series of attacks. Mitch and Melanie must fight for their lives against a deadly force that cannot be explained or stopped in this film that makes you want to “hold onto something and watch!” (Leonard Maltin’s Classic Movie Guide).
Carnival of Souls (The Criterion Collection)
Mary Henry is enjoying the day by riding around in a car with two friends. When challenged to a drag, the women accept, but are forced off of a bridge. It appears that all are drowned, until Mary, quite some time later, amazingly emerges from the river. After recovering, Mary accepts a job in a new town as a church organist, only to be dogged by a mysterious phantom figure that seems to reside in an old run-down pavilion. It is here that Mary must confront the personal demons of her spiritual insouciance.
Cat in the Brain
The most VIOLENT movie ever made! Starring Godfather of Gore Lucio Fulci
Acclaimed Italian horror maestro Lucio Fulci, director of ZOMBIE and THE BEYOND, stars in this blood-soaked epic as a director being driven insane by his own movies. Frankenstein: Day of the Beast
In a foggy winter morning, a raft brings a priest to an isolated island. He is getting paid to perform a wedding ritual under very mysterious conditions. The groom is Victor Frankenstein, and the young and beautiful bride is his cousin Elizabeth. Seven armed and dangerous mercenary soldiers have been hired to protect her against something huge that hides in the woods, awaiting for that wedding night to be consummated. Victor is the only one who knows the truth about their enemy. His secret will be paid with the life of his private army, whose men will die one by one, as the creature gets closer to his target: the bride.
Green Room
A band straying into a secluded part of the Pacific Northwest stumbles onto a horrific act of violence. Because they are the only witnesses, they become the targets of a terrifying gang of skinheads who want to make sure all the evidence is eliminated.
Hunters
Spanning over 30 years, Hunters is the unrelenting tale of two cinephile brothers who abduct their victims in the rural woods of Pennsylvania. These brothers objectify and humiliate their victims leaving them stripped of any trace of humanity. These heinous acts are all in the pursuit to create a genuine horror film. Not recommended for sensitive viewers, Massacre Video presents the controversial Hunters by cult director Adam Ahlbrandt completely uncut and uncensored.

Model Hunger

Psycho
One of the most shocking films of all time, Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho changed the thriller genre forever.
