Thank the good lord above. Something good just happened in the landscape of horror.
Kiefer Sutherland recently engaged in a chat with Metro, and as one would anticipate the conversation involved the upcoming Flatliners film.
“I play a professor at the medical university,” said Sutherland. “It is never stated but it will probably be very clearly understood that I’m the same character I was in the original Flatliners but that I have changed my name and I’ve done some things to move on from the experiments that we were doing in the original film.”
“I loved making the first film and when I was asked if I would be interested in taking part in this, it didn’t take more than a minute to say yes,” states Sutherland.
That my good friends, is amazing news. I didn’t see many expressing interest in watching a remake of Flatliners (one of those few films that actually had a chance at being awesome), but with Sutherland now spilling the beans and letting us know what we’re going to see is an outright sequel, there’s a new layer of excitement attached to this one!
Niels Arden Oplev directs from a script penned by Ben Ripley.
In addition to Sutherland’s participation, Ellen Page (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Diego Luna (Milk), Nina Dobrev (The Perks of Being a Wallflower), Beau Mirchoff (Poker Night), James Norton (Rush), and Kiersey Clemens (The Flash) star.
Flatliners arrives in theaters on August 18th, 2017.
Synopsis: Medical students experiment on “near death” experiences that involve past tragedies until the dark consequences begin to jeopardize their lives.
