‘An American Werewolf in London’ Gets an Amazing Restoration Blu-ray Release

If there’s one werewolf flick that clearly deserves a nice restoration, it’s John Landis’ legendary lycanthropic piece, An American Werewolf in London.

A longtime favorite among genre fans, Landis’ film has long been considered the greatest werewolf film ever shot. A newly restored Blu-ray with loads of bonus material is just what the collector ordered.

The film stars David Naughton (Ice Cream Man), Griffin Dunne (Dallas Buyers Club), and Jenny Agutter (The Avengers). Landis writes in addition to directing. The film features groundbreaking, Academy Award-winning make-up by Rick Baker.

Official synopsis: Two American college students are on a walking tour of Britain and are attacked by a werewolf. One is killed, the other is mauled. The werewolf is killed but reverts to its human form, and the local townspeople are unwilling to acknowledge its existence. The surviving student begins to have nightmares of hunting on four feet at first but then finds that his friend and other recent victims appear to him, demanding that he commit suicide to release them from their curse, being trapped between worlds because of their unnatural deaths.
