Get a look at what you can obtain on DVD and Blu-ray this fine Tuesday!

Alone in the Ghost House

Synopsis: They dared to stay the night in the most haunted house in America. Not content with her 15 minutes of fame, reality tv star Lana and her husband begin production on a new reality series aimed at dis-proving the paranormal. Setting off on a haunted house road trip, they taunt spirits at each stop until they arrive at The Devil’s Commune, a house mired in tragedy and violence, and considered the most haunted house in America. What they find there will exceed their greatest nightmares.

Basket Case 2

Synopsis: Duane Bradley and his surgically-separated twin brother Belial return in this frightfully gory follow-up to Frank Henenlotter’s original monster movie classic, Basket Case. After surviving a fall from a hospital window, the two brothers become media targets. Duane’s aunt, Granny Ruth (played by world-famous Jazz singer Annie Ross), whisks the duo away to a secluded mansion, where other freaks-in-hiding live out their days away from public scrutiny. When a snooping tabloid reporter finds the location of the mutants, Duane and his new family must stand together to keep their freedom a secret. And, in all the chaos, Belial might actually find true love!

Synapse Films is proud to present Basket Case 2 in a beautiful high-definition transfer from the original 35mm camera negative.

Basket Case 3: The Progeny

Synopsis: After being separated again from his conjoined twin brother Duane (Kevin Van Hentenryck), Belial finds out he’s going to be a deformed daddy! Mrs. Belial ( Eve, played by Denise Coop) delivers a litter of bouncing baby monsters, but the blessed event turns into a nightmarish ordeal when the police kidnap the little critters. They should know it’s not safe to anger Belial! Attacking the cops in a climactic, gory rampage, everyone’s favorite mutant mauler stops at nothing to get his newborns back!

Synapse Films is proud to present Basket Case 3: The Progeny in a beautiful high-definition transfer from original 35mm vault materials.

Synopsis: A five-man unit of cops on night patrol get more than they bargain for when they arrive at a creepy backwater town in the middle of nowhere after a call comes over the radio for backup. Entering a derelict building, the seasoned tough guys and their rookie junior, who’s still haunted by a traumatic childhood dream, do the one thing you should never do in this kind of movie: they split up. They soon realize they’ve stumbled into a monstrous charnel house and descend into an ever-more nightmarish netherworld where grotesque, mind-wrenching horrors await them at every turn. This is one baskin (that’s “police raid” to you non-Turkish speakers) that isn’t going to end well. But wait! Things aren’t what they seem in this truly disturbing, outrageously gory, and increasingly surreal film whose unpredictable narrative slippages pull the carpet from under your feet and keep you guessing right up to the final moment. A wildly original whatsit that reconfirms Turkey as the breakout national cinema of the moment.

Creature Feature

Synopsis: Creature Feature is five interwoven tales of terror that occur one foggy Halloween night in Georgia. A babysitter learns a new appreciation for fine art and hard lesson about the consequences of being irresponsible…and naughty!; a group of college kids stumble on the mother of all Scarecrows; two teenagers are forced to steal from the wrong cantankerous old hermit who has been known to occasionally howl at the moon; a murdered father comes back for vengeance against his gold-digging wife and traitorous children; and all of this Halloween fun is made possible by a London Gentleman known as…”Jack.”

Dark Waves

Synopsis: Beneath the waves… secrets run deep.

Sophiane, an ex-French Legionnaire, brings his wife Jazira to a new home: an ancient tower on the open sea. One day while he is sailing, Sophiane finds three little gold nuggets and gives them to her. Soon they begin to deal with daily strange events and the couple begins to face the past that both desired to forget. Things turn out worse than they ever imagined as the gold nuggets are, in reality, gold teeth that belonged to three pirates who now rise from their watery graves to get them back.

Dark Waves is a fairy tale with dramatic undercurrents. It shows a couple whose love is tested and torn apart by a succession of strange events and recurring nightmares. Pirates, ghostly figures, sea monsters, and golden treasures all enter into the dark action. It s a world redolent of ancient myth, legends, sailors, and the siren call of the ocean.

The Sighting

Synopsis: One year after seven local students are inexplicably murdered at a lake house party near the Canadian border, recent high school grads Travis and his buddy Nate plan a celebratory road trip to Canada. While cutting through the woods at night, the two friends are savagely attacked by mysterious creatures and Nate is dragged off leaving Travis to run for help. After Travis efforts to save Nate end tragically, the police begin to investigate the events surrounding the deaths and question Travis claims of bloodthirsty Sasquatch-like creatures in the woods.

Violent Shit: The Movie

Synopsis: Rome is shattered by a series of gruesome murders that paint the Eternal City deep red. Italian Police Inspector Aristide D’Amato and his German counterpart Hans Ebert initiate their criminal investigations. They stumble upon the eccentric Professor Vassago – a master of myths and mysteries – who is linked to Senator Vinci – a corrupt politician – mutually driven by power and perversions. The suspicion grows that these atrocious crimes are connected with the return of one of the most heinous serial killers of our time – Karl the Butcher!
