Creepy Clown Spotted in South Carolina

Creepy Clown South Carolina

Here’s some weird news is out of South Carolina today. KTLA5 is reporting  that a creepy clown has been stalking the woods behind one Greenville county apartment complex.

What started out as a simple comment from one child to his mother has escalated to the police being called to the area. Donna  Arnold, a resident of the area told reporters that she doubted her son’s story at first telling.

I thought my child was seeing things,” said Donna Arnold, “and then the next day I had about 30 kids come up to me and say, ‘Did you see the clown in the woods?’”

Needless to say, the concerned parent called the police. Although it seems that no one has been harmed by the clown, the sightings prompted the property manager to send a letter to all residents reminding them that children should not be left unattended in or around the woods.

The letter read:

“There has [sic] been several conversation [sic] and a lot of complaints to the office regarding a clown or a person dressed in clown clothing taking children or trying to lure children in the woods. First and foremost at Fleetwood Manor Apartments childrens [sic] safety is a top priority. At no time should a child be alone at night, or walking in the roads or wooded areas at night. Also if a person or persons are seen you are to immediately call the police. Greenville County Police Department is aware of the situation and have been riding [sic] the property daily. Remember there is a 10pm curfew for the property so to ensure your childrens [sic] safety please keep them in the house during night hours and make sure at ALL times children are supervised.”

Although I’ve always been a fan of the “creepy clown” trope in horror movies, it would be a completely different thing to run into someone dressed that way in real life. In fact, I would probably react a lot like Ms. Arnold and not want to believe it.

Real-life creepy clowns wandering around isn’t a new story anymore. For some reason, this kind of behavior crops up pretty often. What motivates these people is a mystery, and they often disappear  without incident, leaving us to wonder at their actions.

Here’s hoping that these people are harmless and just out to give us a good scare.
