Story Elements Revealed for ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2

Stranger Things Season 2

This summer’s hit series, Stranger Things, has been confirmed for another season in early 2017. Although we have some time to wait before we get to see what’s next, details are already surfacing about what may be in store for Mike and the gang.

Entertainment Weekly spoke with the show’s creators, the Duffer brothers, about what to expect in the next installment.

Back into the Upside Down

We’ll be seeing more of the Upside Down this season and possibly discovering what all lives in that world.

“We obviously have this gate to another dimension, which is still very much open in the town of Hawkins. And a lot of questions there in terms of, if the Monster is dead, was it a singular monster? What else could be out there? We really don’t go in there much until they go in to find Will at the end. So we’ve opened up this doorway, and to us it’s exciting to talk about, like, what else is behind there? There’s a lot more mystery there to be solved.” – Ross Duffer

Meeting New Friends and Old

There will be four new characters in season 2, the Duffer’s reveal. “There’s going to be a lot of new and interesting dynamics that we didn’t see in season 1,” Matt Duffer said.

This is an interesting revelation, but could be intentionally deceptive. Are these dynamics based on the introduction of the new characters or will it be between our season 1 favorites? It goes without saying that everyone involved in the story has been changed by their experience with the Upside Down. These changes could radically shift how these characters interact.

Finding Eleven

Ross Duffer played it coy when it came to the subject of everyone’s favorite telekinetic girl. “We don’t know about Eleven,” says Ross Duffer. “We leave that up in the air.”

I don’t know about you, but this screams “potential storyline” to me. It’s hard to believe that such a great character would be left out of the next leg of the adventure. I have faith that the Duffer brothers have a few tricks up their sleeves, and I’d be willing to bet money that at least one of these centers around Eleven.
