‘American Horror Story ?6’ : New Teaser is a Rocky Revelation

A new American Horror Story teaser has dropped and it only adds to the mystery.

Keeping with the nature theme, this teaser shows a seriously painful transformation in process. I don’t know what it would take for that to happen to a person, but I know I don’t want to find out.

This season’s main themes are much harder to determine than the one’s previous. As opposed to Coven, Freak Show, and Hotel,  ?6 doesn’t exactly bring anything to mind. As Bloody Disgusting reported, the producers decided to keep the theme a secret

In reference to the teasers, FX CEO John Landgraf said: “One is accurate; all the rest are misdirect.” He continued, “We decided, Ryan [Murphy] and I and [marketing president] Stephanie Gibbons, that it would be really fun this year…to keep it a mystery. There is a theme and a setting and a place and time, but we’re not going to reveal it.” Per indiewire.com

I think this is a brilliant decision on their part. Although every season has been a huge success for FX, it hasn’t been without its detractors. I think that this is, in part, due to audiences knowing the theme in advance. If you give people time (and teasers) that suggest a certain tone you can’t blame them when they expect that tone in the storyline.

For example, the Coven teasers made me believe that Season 3 would be much more focused on witchcraft than it was. Perhaps if I hadn’t known the title or seen the trailers I would have had a different viewing experience.

Who knows what we’re in for with AHS this year. We’ll all be going in blind, and I couldn’t be happier about it.
