Paramount Delays the New ‘Friday the 13th’
In what isn’t even remotely near a surprise, Paramount has delayed the release of the new Friday the 13th film.
I think we all knew the deadline was flying at us at far too great a clip for Paramount to ensure a timely release. So, the flick, which was initially tapped for a January 13th, 2017 arrival will not be pushed back all the way to the final quarter of the year. As it now stands, Paramount will aim to deliver this beast to the masses on Friday, October 13th, 2017.
Yeah, we know – that’s a brutal delay!
If that’s what it takes to craft the best possible Friday film, however, we’ll happily accept the wait.
Breck Eisner (The Crazies) will be directing the film from a script written by Aaron Guzikowski, who gave us the impressive Prisoners.
We don’t know who will star in the film just yet (please, Hollywood Gods, let Derek Mears don the hockey mask once more!), and we don’t have any solid plot details to share, other than the fact that this story will be a period piece, origin-ish in nature, and will also introduce Jason Voorhees’ father, Elias Voorhees.
I wouldn’t be too concerned with rapid fire updates. With the production moving as slow as it is, it could be quite some time before we receive another key update!
