It’s a No for ‘Underworld’ and ‘Blade’ Crossover but a Yes for new ‘Blade’ Movie
It looks like Wesley Snipes’ open desire to reprise his role as Blade may be granted soon. According to Kate Beckinsale, who fronts the Underworld franchise, Marvel is working on a new Blade project.
Why was Kate Beckinsale chatting up Blade? Because recent voices have called for a potential Underworld/Blade crossover film. Beckinsale, who was recently asked about the project at the New York Comic Con, shut down the idea of a crossover picture, but did drop what could end up being some pretty awesome news.
“No. We had that idea. No. They’re busy. They’re doing something with Blade.”
Now, it’s important to understand a few things.
One, this isn’t confirming, unquestionably, that a fourth Blade film is on the way. Two, this isn’t ruling out the chance of Blade appearing in another Marvel superhero movie. And three, Snipes may need to get himself in tip top shape once more.
Superhero films and comic adaptations are hotter than they’ve ever been, and after the hugely successful Captain America: Civil War, which featured a few surprise additions like the new Spiderman, Black Panther and Vision, there’s no telling who Marvel might drop into a new picture (Blade and Deadpool together would be about as awesome as it gets).
It’s not too hard to imagine Avengers 3 featuring the cold as ice antihero, Blade.
Most of us would rather see a fourth franchise film, as we all love the R-rated comic adaptations, and the Blade franchise deserves to be put to rest after a much, much stronger pic than abysmal Blade: Trinity. That’s just not the kind of note to end this tune with.
What will Marvel do? Is it set in stone that Blade will certainly return to the big screen? We don’t know just yet, but it sounds like Marvel wants to see the Daywalker make a long overdue return to theaters.
We’ll keep you updated!
Can’t wait for it I’m a huge fan of Blade movies as well as of Underworld Underworld Underworld
