A Handful of Compelling Indie Films Arrive on DVD and Blu-ray Today

Daylight's End Movie

It’s a good day to be a genre fan, assuming you’re a big indie film supporter. You won’t see much in the way of marquee titles dropping, and none of this week’s releases were large enough pics to warrant wide theatrical release, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few legit keepers in the lineup.

Read on for a full breakdown of this week’s new releases on DVD and Blu-ray!

Carnage Park

This pure-pulp thrill ride jumps between past and present as it pieces together the puzzle of a shocking crime. It’s 1978 and a bank robbery gone wrong leaves Vivian (The Last Exorcism’s Ashley Bell) the hostage of two criminals on the run. But things go from bad to off-the-rails berserk when she and her captors wind up on the sun-baked desert outpost of a deranged ex-military sniper (Pat Healy), who ensnares them in his deadly game of cat and mouse.

Dam Sharks

Bull sharks are huge and unpredictable predators that can live in fresh water as well as oceans. And when a storm drives dozens of them to an inland river vacation spot, they begin snacking on swimmers, fishermen, tubers and zip-liners while using their victim s bodies to build dams. Can a resourceful park ranger, a cantankerous survivalist and the survivors of a doomed corporate retreat now stop the feeding frenzy, or do these blood-crazed beasts have even more horrific plans for dinner? Jason London (Dazed And Confused), Jessica Blackmore (The Sacred) and Robert Craighead (Stormageddon) star in this Syfy movie hit from the directors of Airplane vs. Volcano and the studio that brought you Super Shark and Lavalantula!

Daylight’s End

Years after a mysterious plague has devastated the planet and turned most of humanity into blood-hungry creatures, a rogue drifter on a vengeful hunt stumbles across a band of survivors in an abandoned police station and reluctantly agrees to try to help them defend themselves and escape to the sanctuary they so desperately need.

Happy Birthday

When Brady finds out his girlfriend has been cheating on him, his best friend Tommy decides that the best way for him to get over it is with a raging drug induced birthday celebration in Mexico. Things quickly take a dark turn when the two girls they meet at a bar are connected to the Mexican drug cartel and the girls hold them for ransom. Brady and Tommy must fight for their lives and a way to escape, while being drugged and tortured in a desolate hotel in a foreign country, which will prove to be the most twisted birthday celebration of all time.

From the twisted minds of the directors of such films as Dracula Untold, Dark Skies, Tusk, and The Pact comes a chilling feature which puts a terrifying twist on some of the most globally recognized holidays such as Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Mother’s Day, and Halloween.

Last Girl Standing

Five years after a masked killer brutally murdered her closest friends, Camryn, the lone survivor, struggles to reclaim her shattered life. Though seemingly suffering from paranoid delusions, Camryn reluctantly starts hanging out with Nick, a new co-worker, and his tight-knit social circle. But just when she thinks she might be ready to finally start anew, Camryn s past comes back to haunt her… Part slasher movie, part character study, LAST GIRL STANDING is a thrilling exploration of what happens to the final girls of horror movies.
