‘The Exorcist’ Writer William Peter Blatty Passes Away at 89

William Peter Blatty will forever be known as the man who wrote one of history’s most terrifying tales. And while The Exorcist is no doubt Blatty’s magnum opus, he did indeed pen a few other novels that were certainly worth looking into, chief among them being Legion, which served as a pure sequel to The Exorcist.

No more will we uncover new works from Blatty. He passed away yesterday in Bethesda, Maryland. He was 89 years old.

Specifics on the man’s passing are still under wraps, but we’re hoping he went peacefully, entangled in pleasant dreams.

In addition to penning iconic tales, he also directed a few pictures in his day, including The Ninth Configuration, Exorcist III and Legion.

Our deepest condolences go out to Blatty’s family and friends.
