Anthony Hopkins and Jonathan Demme Silence of the Lambs

Jonathan Demme passed away earlier this morning from complications stemming from a battle with cancer. The director of the Oscar winning genre piece, The Silence of the Lambs, was 73 years old.

Demme’s career stretched more than four decades. A few of his most recognizable works include the critically acclaimed films, Philadelphia, The Manchurian Candidate, and Beloved, though Demme will no doubt be remembered for helming the stunning adaptation of Thomas Harris’ terrifying chiller, The Silence of the Lambs.

Demme, a respected and versatile filmmaker will be greatly missed.

Our condolences go out to Demme’s family, friends and those who’ve considered the man an influence for years. Rest in peace, sir. You’ve more than earned it.
