Full List of New Horror Movies Coming Out in May 2017

May is going to be an interesting month for horror movie releases. What’s coming out, you ask? A myriad of genre-bending pictures, a theatrical monster or so, plenty of new VOD releases and a beefy load of absolutely amazing DVDs and Blu-rays. Read on for a full list of horror movies coming out in May 2017!

Beacon Point (May 2nd) VOD

Zoe has quit her job to hike the Appalachian Trail as a tribute to her deceased father. She joins a small group of inexperienced hikers for an adventure of a lifetime. The group is comprised of Dan, recently divorced and looking for a change from Silicon Valley; Cheese, a 17-year-old kid; and Brian, his half-brother he has just met. They are led by Drake, a hot-headed trail master with a questionable past.

They are upbeat as they set out on the ten-day trek through the Great Smokey Mountains. Drake leads them away from the main trail and the tourists, promising a grand adventure and sights they’d never see with the standard tour. After a gruesome discovery, they become lost deep in the mountains. The adventure spins out of control when they are terrorized at their campsite by an unseen force.

American Exorcism (May 2nd) VOD

Damon Richter thought he left the world of possessions, exorcisms, and evil behind until an old friend arrives with frightening information about his estranged daughter, knowing that only his otherworldly skills can save her.

Tunnel (May 2nd) DISC (Review)

35 DAYS, A MAN’S DESPERATE STRUGGLE TO SURVIVE Jung-su, an ordinary car dealer, is his way home with a birthday cake for his daughter. As he drives into a tunnel, an unbelievable thing happens; the tunnel collapses on him. Minutes later, he realizes that he is completely caught in between the debris. Outside, this breaking news creates media frenzy and a thoughtless reporter even airs a live phone interview with Jung-su, using up his mobile phone batteries. An emergency response team is immediately organized to rescue him and tries to keep the media under control. As it becomes a national concern, the government promises full support for the rescue. While Jung-su struggles to survive, a series of ridiculous blunders delays the rescue operation and threatens his chances to make it out alive. Soon, he runs out of food, water, and phone batteries, making him totally incommunicado. Days pass without any success and people start to lose hope or interest in rescuing him. Having already…

The Black Room (May 9th) VOD

PAUL and JENNIFER HEMDALE have just moved into their dream house. But their happy marriage is about to be put to the test as they slowly discover the secret behind the black room in the cellar. Something else is already living in their new home and it is growing stronger every day. It has claimed many victims including the last owners of the house. Repairmen who journey down into the basement soon meet a horrible end. When Paul is taken over by this demonic entity, it is no longer trapped within the walls and is quick to take advantage of all pleasures of the flesh. Jennifer and her younger sister KAREN begin to suspect that something is wrong with Paul. Karen finds out the truth a hard and painful way, leaving Jennifer alone to fight the demonic entity that has possessed her husband and threatens to destroy her very soul. And Paul is not the only one transforming as Jennifer soon discovers that the black room is not only evil but alive as well and may not be able to be stopped!

Here Alone (May 9th) DISC

After an outbreak that turned the people into zombies, Ann, her husband Jason and their baby daughter flee to woods in the place where Jason was raised. He teaches his wife how to survive in the wilderness but their baby and he die. One day, the lonely Ann helps the teenager Olivia and her stepfather Chris that is seriously wounded to survive. When Chris is recovered, he invites Ann to move with Olivia and he to the North. However Ann has an unforgiving secret about the death of her baby and she decides to stay. Soon Chris and Ann have one night stand and Olivia is jealous with the situation. When Chris and Olivia are ready to go, Ann suggests that they should scavenge food in a nearby farm. She goes with Olivia to bring food from the kitchen while Chris creates a diversion to the zombies outside. However things go wrong with tragic consequences.

The Void (May 9th) DISC (Review)

When police officer Carter (Aaron Poole) discovers a blood-soaked man limping down a deserted road, he rushes him to a local hospital with a barebones, night shift staff. As cloaked, cult-like figures surround the building, the patients and staff inside start to turn ravenously insane. Trying to protect the survivors, Carter leads them into the depths of the hospital where they discover a gateway to immense evil.

The Greasy Strangler (May 9th) DISC

Ronnie runs a Disco walking tour with his son, Brayden. When a sexy woman takes the tour, it begins a competition between father and son for her love. It also signals the arrival of an oily strangler who stalks the streets at night.

The Drowning (May 10th) VOD

When child psychologist Tom Seymour plunges into a river to save a young man from suicide, he unwittingly reopens a chapter from his past he had hoped to forget. For Tom already knows the young as a boy he sent to prison some years earlier.

7 Witches (May 12th) VOD

A horror film set at a wedding.

Don’t Knock Twice (May 12th) DISC

The sculptor Jess unsuccessfully tries to retrieve the custody of her teenage daughter Chloe. During the night, Chloe and her boyfriend Danny play a prank challenging an urban legend: and they knock twice on the door of the witch Mary Aminov. Soon Danny is hunted down by a fiend and vanishes. When Chloe is haunted by the evil spirit, she flees to the house of her estranged mother and her husband Ben to stay with her mother. Soon the demon finds her and haunts the house while Ben is traveling. Jess’ model Tira sees darkness around Chloe and she researches the Internet about the mystery. Meanwhile Detective Boardman is investigating the disappearance of Danny and suspects Jess is manipulating her troubled daughter.

Dead Awake (May 12th) THEATRICAL/VOD

Kate Bowman (Jocelin Donahue) is an average social worker who is investigating in the mysterious deaths of people who died in their sleep. Shortly before their deaths, the victims all reported a supernatural force that appeared to them while they were suffering from sleep-paralysis. When Kate investigates further into the case, she opens herself up to the creature’s wrath, and soon finds herself, and her family suffering from an ancient evil.

Jasmine (May 12th) VOD

A year after his wife’s murder, once-successful Hong Kong businessman Leonard To (Jason Tobin) is still reeling from the tragedy. Having lost his job, friends, and all sense of order in his life, Leonard becomes obsessed with a mysterious stranger he sees at his wife’s grave, believing him to be responsible for her death.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (May 16th) DISC

Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice (Milla Jovovich) is the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead. Now, she must return to where the nightmare began – The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.

Breakdown Lane (May 16th) VOD/DISC

When Kirby Lane’s SUV stalls in the desert, she must overcome the elements… and the lurking undead that surround her. Her only companion is Max, the Emergency Car Service rep trapped in his office by the zombie apocalypse, and the lone voice guiding her home.

Alien: Covenant (May 19th) THEATRICAL

The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

XX (May 23rd) DISC

XX is a female-driven horror anthology with each director given full creative license to tell any story they choose revolving around a female protagonist. While the directors have been given free creative rein within budget and time constraints, all of the segments themselves involve the horror genre.

Get Out (May 23rd) DISC (Review)

A young black man visits his white girlfriend’s family estate where he learns that many of its residents, who are black, have gone missing, and he soon learns the horrible truth when a fellow black man on the estate warns him to “get out”. He soon learns this is easier said than done.

The Great Wall (May 23rd) DISC

When a mercenary warrior (Matt Damon) is imprisoned within the Great Wall, he discovers the mystery behind one of the greatest wonders of the world. As wave after wave of marauding beasts besiege the massive structure, his quest for fortune turns into a journey toward heroism as he joins a huge army of elite warriors to confront the unimaginable and seemingly unstoppable force.

Black Butterfly (May 26th) DISC

Outside a mountain town grappling with a series of abductions and murders, Paul (Antonio Banderas), a reclusive writer, struggles to start what he hopes will be a career-saving screenplay. After a tense encounter at a diner with a drifter named Jack (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), Paul offers Jack a place to stay-and soon the edgy, demanding Jack muscles his way into Paul’s work. As a storm cuts off power to the isolated cabin, the two men begin a jagged game of one-upmanship that will bring at least one tale to an end.

Rupture (May 30th) DISC

A single mom tries to break free from a mysterious organization that has abducted her.

Two girls must battle a mysterious evil force when they get left behind at their boarding school over winter break.

Tall Men (May 31st) VOD

A challenged man is stalked by tall phantoms in business suits after he purchases a car with a mysterious black credit card.
