E3 Will Debut Promising Horror Games
The Electronic Entertainment Expo, as per usual, is the site of discussion and trailers for multiple upcoming games:
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is Koji Igarashi’s “spiritual successor” to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night that features lots of castles, demons, whipping, and blood. Its release is set for 2018.
Fortnite is a “base-builder meets third-person shooter game” that has the player battling a barrage of zombies with DIY traps and weapons. It will be released on PC and consoles July 25.
The Evil Within 2, a third person survival horror game, is set for release on Friday the 13 this October. It follows the story of the main character from the original, Detective Sebastian Castellanos. This time he is drawn into a nightmare world to save his daughter.
Vampyr, an RPG set in England in 1918, is, as you may have guessed, about vampires. Your character is a doctor who has just been turned into a vampire, and the game centers around finding victims without disrupting the doctor’s life. It will be formatted for PlayStation 4, PC, and XBox One.
A turn of events that will disappoint many fans is the lack of Death Stranding material. Creator Hideo Kojima (best known for his Metal Gear games) titillated many, gamers and not, with his trailer for the upcoming game last year, when the trailer featured a motion capture Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead). A subsequent trailer showed Hannibal’s Mads Mikkelsen and director Guillermo del Toro. (See said trailers below.) To make up for it, Kojima will appear in a panel and discuss the game, which has been announced for some time before 2019.
