Jim Carrey is Going on Trial for the Death of His Girlfriend
Jim Carrey’s genre contributions are really pretty minimal. He popped up in the goofy cult classic, Once Bitten, he was in the terrifying Batman Forever, he played a key role in the pitch-black creeper comedy, The Cable Guy and he fronted The Number 23. Hell, he’s even got a role in Ana Lily Amirpour’s new piece, The Bad Batch. He’s clearly familiar with the frightening. While some of those movies are scary, there’s no doubt that they pale in comparison to his current situation: Carrey will go to trial for the death of his girlfriend, 30-year old, Cathriona White.
White died from a drug overdose in September of 2015 just days after splitting with Carrey.
White’s death was a result of an overdose, and it’s been declared a suicide. However, White’s family are suing the 55-year-old actor, alleging that Carrey is the one that provided the drugs used in White’s suicide.
The case will go to trial despite his lawyer’s (Raymond Bouche) attempts to see the case thrown out, noting that the allegations are “predatory” and “malicious”.
It looks like Jim Carrey could conceivably be forced to endure the most frightening horror story of all: a lengthy stint in prison, accompanied by other serious criminal offenders.
