John Carpenter Signs 2-Project Deal with Universal Cable

Tales for a Halloween Night John Carpenter

You want to hear the most heart-warming thing you’ll hear all day? John Carpenter has just signed a two-project deal with Universal Cable Productions (praise baby Jesus for more great horror on the small screen).

As part of the deal Carpenter, with UCP, will executive produce scripted programming for the NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment portfolio and external networks and streaming services. John’s wife, Sandy King will also produce, under their Storm King Productions banner.

We already know that Tales for a Halloween Night is being developed for SYFY. An adaptation of Carpenter’s award-winning graphic novel, the show will be handled in anthological format, and if it proves even remotely near as engaging as Carpenter’s graphic novel, fans will be in store for a major treat.

So, what’s the other big project Carpenter will be working on?

The additional project is titled Nightside, and it’s based on the literary series by New York Times bestselling author Simon R. Green. MTV’s Scream series co-creator, Jill Blotevogel is officially attached to write the script. In the series, Nightside is the secret heart of London where creatures of the night congregate.

Carpenter and monsters? We’re in for this one as well!
