Rest in Peace: ‘The Return’s’ Sam Shepard Dies at 73
Sam Shepard wasn’t a prolific genre contributor, but he was a refined performer who earned the respect of his peers. He worked hard. He exhibited passion. And now, sadly, he’s passed away. Shepard died on Thursday, as a result of Lou Gehrig’s disease. He was 73.
Fans of our genre may recognize Shepard for his work in genre-blurring films like Midnight Special and Cold in July, or they may remember him from his performance in the pure genre flick, The Return.
He also directed the western/horror, Silent Tongue.
Our deepest condolences go out to Shepard’s family and friends. He will be missed.
