On This Day in Horror history: ‘Halloween H20: 20 Years Later’ Debuted in Theaters… 19 Years Ago

Halloween H20

It’s wild to think that it’s been nearly 20 years since Steve Miner’s Halloween H20 hit theaters. Some would tell you that H20 is the last legitimately enjoyable Halloween film made. Two decades without another clear-cut franchise standout (I personally enjoyed Rob Zombie’s first Halloween, but despised his second franchise pic) is a scary thought.

But hey, that’s how it all goes, and if we’re lucky, Blumhouse will give us the Halloween film we crave next year.

So, this is all to say: Happy 19th anniversary, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later!

A few other memorable movies that were released on August 5th include William Castle’s hokey but awesome 13 Ghosts (1960), the killer remake of The Blob (1988) and, just six years ago Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
