On This Day in Horror History Bud Abbott and Lou Costello Had to ‘Hold That Ghost’

76 years ago, in 1941, Bud Abbott and Lou Costello would make one of their many treks into the world of the macabre. Don’t fret, though, the film is of course loaded with classic slapstick humor and that golden chemistry that all Abbott and Costello fans love.

Don’t go into this one anticipating one of the greatest collaborative efforts between these two, as it’s a bit slower than some of their other excellent films, but Abbott & Costello Hold That Ghost is certainly worth at least a single viewing!

While it isn’t horror, it was written by the Master of Horror, Stephen King, so Stand by Me also gets a nod from us. The film was released 31 years ago today and grossed an impressive $52 million. It also remains a favorite for home video collectors.
