Amityville: The Awakening Gets a New Release Date

We’re still not entirely convinced that Amityville: The Awakening will arrive in any due time, thanks to the production’s constant delays, but we’ve got our hopes up. Especially in light of the announcement that the film, a long anticipated reboot of the popular franchise, is now scheduled for an April 1st, 2016 arrival.

We know there’s been plenty of progress made on the film, as the trailer hit the masses over a year ago. And we do have faith in Dimension, as they’ve consistently given us standout genre affairs. Thus, we hold genuine hope that April will indeed be the month in which we’re once more chilled to the bone by a familiar title.

The fact that there’s bona fide talent involved in this outing also has us totally juiced!

Co-written by Daniel Farrands and Casey La Scala and directed by Franck Khalfoun (who helmed the awesome Maniac remake), Amityville: The Awakening stars Jennifer Jason Leigh as Joan, the unfortunate single mother who moves her three kids into the Amityville house, which of course has a very dark and violent history.

Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother, Joan, in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house, including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.
