Emily’s Adventures in Horrorland Puts ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ Under the Microscope

WuuuAAAAAAAA-ng-ng-ng-ng-ng-ng. That’s my impression of a chainsaw.

This week, I decided to delve back into Backwoods Horror, following my past review of The Hills Have Eyes. There’s something I like about the subgenre; at its best, it taps into a basic fear of attack from strangers in the middle of East Jesus Nowhere, and doesn’t require a big budget to do so.

In TCSM (the abbreviation given on my DVD menu), five teens have the misfortune to run into Leatherface and the rest of his crazy family. Where’s Courage the Cowardly Dog when you need him?
