Upcoming Horror: 25 Movies Being Released in 2017
Huset (TBA)
Why we want to see it: Initially slated for a 2016 release, rumor has it we won’t see this one hit American soil until 2017. But it’s a story with multiple layers of horror, and we’re digging that to the fullest.
Leatherface (TBA)
Why we want to see it: Another picture initially labeled for 2016 release, it’s looking as if this one won’t arrive until 2017 more as each day passes. There’s little interest in Leatherface or the Texas Chainsaw Massacre at this point, but with Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury directing we might actually see the first genuinely great TCSM flick since Tobe Hooper’s original.
Phantasm: Ravager (TBA)
Why we want to see it: Will we really see the fifth film in the Phantasm franchise next year? It seems likely. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes of this franchise, and fans will be in store for a few surprises. We’ll just be incredibly fortunate if Ravager actually makes it our way next year… although it should… the damn things been shelved for what feels like a half-decade.
Trick ‘r Treat 2 (TBA)
Why we want to see it: Michael Dougherty gave us an amazing picture with his first Trick ‘r Treat film, and then he gave us a superb Christmas piece in Krampus. The guy is on fire, and he’s long wanted to make Trick ‘r Treat 2 a reality. It’s been officially announced, now we’ve just got to hope it’s wrapped in time for an October 2017 arrival.
Fear, Inc. (TBA)
Why we want to see it: Vincent Masciale’s flick earned a whole lot of praise while making sporadic festival appearances. We’re hoping the early fan buzz is justified, because the flick sounds pretty awesome!
