There’s a New ‘Cloverfield’ Film on the Way and We’ve Got Early Details
As insane as it seems, the Cloverfield franchise could very well end up being one of the few great modern franchises. Cloverfield was an absolute blast, and an obvious standout of the found footage genre. 10 Cloverfield Lane was loosely related to Cloverfield, but really presented a completely unique concept. That concept was intelligent, and the film was damn powerful.
JJ Abrams and Paramount Pictures are gearing up to bring a third Cloverfield film to the masses soon. Cloverfield: God Particle will again be related to Cloverfield, but won’t serve as a direct sequel. Just as 10 Cloverfield Lane managed, the film will continue to expand the Cloverfield universe all while telling an exclusive tale to the first two stories.
“Particle” is about a team of astronauts who make a “shocking discovery” and end up fighting for survival in what is described as an altered reality. Julis Onah (“The Girl Is in Trouble”) directed from a script by Oren Uziel. It stars David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ziyi Zhang, Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Brühl and Chris O’Dowd.

God Particle is scheduled to arrive on February 24th, 2017. If all goes according to plan for Abrams and Paramount, we’ll be seeing a new Cloverfield arrive on an annual basis.

Oooh, interesting…I hope they can find a way to weave the alien side in in a more effective way though. I felt in 10 Cloverfield Lane that the alien side was overdone and ended up ruining what had been a well executed build up.

You know the alien aspect didn’t really do much one way or the other for me. That movie was all about Goodman and damn did he impress (not a shocker lol) – I’m just excited to see this interesting little universe continue to grow and start to bring aspects of each story into one big pot. The franchise thus far has been pretty damn impressive. Hopefully we see a few more top notch installments.

You’re right, without Goodman to steer it, that film would’ve been a flop! If you hear any more whispers about this franchise and future offerings, make sure you keep blogging 🙂
