‘My Friend Dahmer’–A New Kind of Origin Story (trailer)

Ever wondered what Jeffrey Dahmer was like before he became a serial killer? Well, a friend of his from high school, Derf Backderf, wrote a graphic novel about teenage Jeff, and a movie has been made based on the graphic novel.

Official synopsis: “Jeff Dahmer (Disney Channel’s Ross Lynch) is an awkward teenager struggling to make it through high school with a family life in ruins. He collects roadkill, fixates on a neighborhood jogger (Vincent Kartheiser, ‘Mad Men’), and copes with his unstable mother (Anne Heche) and well-intentioned father (Dallas Roberts). He begins to act out at school, and his goofball antics win over a group of band-nerds who form The Dahmer Fan Club, headed by Derf Backderf (Alex Wolff, Nickelodeon’s ‘The Naked Brothers Band’). But this camaraderie can’t mask his growing depravity. Approaching graduation, Jeff spirals further out of control, inching ever closer to madness.”

Director: Marc Meyers

Cast: Ross Lynch, Anne Heche (‘Psycho’, ‘Nothing Left to Fear’), Dallas Roberts (‘The Walking Dead’, ‘Mayhem’), Alex Wolff

I'm a mom who loves horror movies, the '80s, and the library. I write about the above three topics more than is healthy. I've got reviews, listicles, lil nonfiction pieces, and random bits of whutnot. I also included some pretentious as hell microfiction (don't worry, it's at the bottom). Because horror is life and vice versa.
