‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ Season 2 Episode 1 Review; Season Preview

Written by: Paula Limbaugh

YES!! The boys are back in town! So, did you catch the first episode of Season 2? Looks like we’re off to a good start. In this episode we were reacquainted with familiar faces and introduced to new players; and I for one, am excited.

Season 2 opens with Santánico (Eiza González) and Richie (Zane Holtz) together in Texas, on a crime spree. As you remember from last season Richie was turned by Santánico and is now her Prince. In the meanwhile Seth (D.J. Cotrona) and Kate (Madison Davenport) are eking out an existence in Mexico and trying to figure out their next move. Seth isn’t looking too hot without Richie by his side, which is a big change from last season.

Next we are introduced to a new key cast member, Esai Morales as Lord Amancio Malvado. Now he’s going to be the one to reckon with! When Malvado calls forth his henchman, “The Regulator” played by none other than Danny Trejo, you know this is gonna be one bad ass ride. Here is where we see how this season is going to take a dark and sinister turn from the original movie series. I know I’m in for the long haul!

And what about Carlos Madrigal (Wilmer Valderrama), Man, he looks crazed! I can’t wait to see how his storyline plays out. Do you think Freddie (Jesse Garcia) really buys into the burnt bodies in the car scenario? Nah, me either.

All in all, a good opener for Season 2. I like how they mixed in the flashbacks from Season 1; I thought it helped in keeping the story cohesive. We witnessed a few deaths, saw some great special effects, and of course an ending that leaves us wanting more!

So, just let me leave you with this wee bit of wisdom, as Santánico so eloquently states, “We have to let go of who we were, to become who we are.”  Until next time, Ta!
