‘Annabelle: Creation’ Might Be Better Than the First One

Going by the trailer, the sequel to Annabelle (coming to theaters August 11) looks more original and has more compelling characters. Of course, sequels are often shite, especially if the first one was meh. But if the superior Ouija: Origin of Evil is any indication, maybe there’s hope for sequels after all.

Annabelle 2: Creation is produced by James Wan and helmed by Lights Out director David F. Sandberg, so if nothing else there’s bound to be cool lighting techniques. I’m pretty sure the doll looks creepier, too. Judge for yourself:

Synopsis:

Several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.
