Embrace the Shadow with ‘Awaken the Shadowman’ (trailer)

Haven’t seen a good cult movie since ‘The Sacrament?’ This one’s probably no match, but it does have a supernatural bent.

Adam is called home by his brother after their mother disappears, and finds himself, his wife Beth, and their baby menaced by a cult that wants a sacrifice for the titular Shadowman. Things are complicated when Beth starts trusting them. (It looks pretty derivative, but I’m a sucker for a boogeyman story, so I’ll watch it.)

The movie, directed by J.S. Wilson, stars James Zimbardi, Emily Somers, and Jean Smart. The trailer claims the movie is “Based on actual phenomena.”

The release date is July 25.
