On This Day in Horror History ‘The Hills Have Eyes’, ‘Jaws 3D’ and ‘The Devil’s Rejects’ Were All Released
While they obviously weren’t all released on the same day, July 22nd is a rather important one, as it saw the release of Wes Craven’s The Hills Have Eyes in 1977, Jaws 3D in 1983 and The Devil’s Rejects in 2005.
Tracking financial tallies for The Hills Have Eyes hasn’t been all too easy, but we can tell you that Jaws 3D opened in the top box office slot, and went on to earn an impressive $87 million worldwide. The Devil’s Rejects didn’t fare so well. The film opened just inside the top 10 with a number eight debut. Zombie’s gritty film would eventually exit theaters with a worldwide tally of $19 million.
