VOD Roundup: 10 Best Films Streaming on Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, Shudder and Tubi TV

TubiTV

Return of the Living Dead

Dan O’Bannon directs one of the most recognizable zombie films in existence, and he deserves a wealth of praise for giving us this gold mine. I don’t need to tell you what it’s about. You know. You’ve seen it… probably 20 times!

Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Come on now, it’s one of the best remakes we’ve ever seen, it’s loaded with dread and carried by brilliant performances. And to be honest, it ends up being rather terrifying, knowing that there may be no hope for anyone in a world where creatures with grim intentions can carry our skin around.

Like 10 straight minutes of a buck naked Mathilda May taking a walk. Do I really need to say more to sell you on this one?

Dial M for Murder

An absolute classic from Hitchcock. If you’re hoping for pure, brutal blood and guts horror, skip this one If you’re up for a fine thriller with hefty mystery elements and brilliant camera work, this is a must see.

Inside

This isn’t the Inside you’re thinking of, so don’t embrace the trepidation, you’re likely in for something much less disturbing. That said, I’m taking a chance on this one – being locked up in a prison where something is loose and tearing guards and inmates to pieces sounds admittedly awesome.

The Girl Next Door

This one if going to screw you up in a serious way. I refuse to drop spoilers in this instance, I will however tell you that this isn’t one to watch while the youngsters are in the room.

My Bloody Valentine

One of the better early slashers, My Bloody Valentine gives us a good mystery, a few cool kills and another seasonal piece to add to your annual holiday plans. It was slept on up to the point in which we saw the remake arrive theatrically, but it never deserved that treatment. It’s better than most vintage slashers.

Chastity Bites

A super silly, teenie bopper flick through and through… that also boasts a very strange appeal. As long as you’re in a light hearted mood when you check this one out, you should find plenty of intentional and unintentional laughs. It’s a fun film.

Shock Value

One of the biggest surprises I’ve come across in the last few years, this one will have you guessing and missing the mark on more than one occasion. But the surprises are only a small part of the greatness offered here. Just you wait until you see Anthony Bravo completely slay his character. Great stuff that’s gone ignored too long, already.

The Substitute

Forget the other movies you’ve seen called The Substitute, this is the one that matters. It’s an absurdly chilling story about a substitute teacher who not only isn’t what she claims to be, she doesn’t give a damn about the little bastards she’s “teaching.” One of Ghost House’s strongest by far.
