‘The Untamed’ is a Mexican movie about a dysfunctional family. The wife and mother, Alejandra, is unsatisfied but can’t work up the courage to leave. Meanwhile, the husband and father, Angel is secretly hooking up with Alejandra’s brother. Everything changes when they meet enigmatic stranger Veronica, who takes them to a beast that promises pleasure but has a destructive side.

Or, as the trailer puts it, “What’s there in the cabin is our primitive side.” The movie is touted as an exploration of homophobia, misogyny, and suppressed desire. And these things are explored by a sex creature with tentacles. Count me in!

The movie, which was released in its native country last year, will see limited US release on July 21st.
