Did You Know Kathy Lutz, One of the Unfortunate to Inspire the Amityville Horror Died 13 Years Ago Today?

Kathy Lutz was one of the family members who lived in the Amityville Horror House that spawned the fan favorite haunted house flick, Amityville Horror. Kathy and her husband, George moved themselves, as well as their three children, into the home before supernatural forces changed lives and created something immensely terrifying.

In the original (and extremely chilling) film, Kathy was portrayed by Margot Kidder (while George was portrayed by James Brolin), who found herself at the center of a nightmare that would threaten to leave her husband completely unraveled and the lives of her and her children in mortal risk.

Although Lutz went uncredited, she’s said to have played a serious role in the writing process of the film’s script. She passed away in 2004 at the age of 57, emphysema was the cause of her death.
