ClownTown freaked me out on a very serious level. It’s not the most frightening film ever made, but there’s a fearlessness to the pic that separates it from most. Everything combined leads to just the kind of movie you don’t want to watch alone, at night. I tried it. Sleep avoided me like The Plague.
The brazen attitude displayed by the pic’s villains feels all too genuine, and that immediately gets inside of us, somehow. I can’t perfectly describe the sensation I experienced while watching this, but it was unlike any other sensation I’ve ever experienced, I can tell you that. It’s another one that just feels too real, and when you sprinkle that illusion of reality with the overconfidence of a psychopath or so, the dynamic is mind-blowing.
