I’ve read more than a single review that might give someone the impression that there isn’t much to be disturbed by from Clown. That’s a damn lie. This movie features an array of gradually intensifying sequences that very well stand to bug you. As a father of three, I can’t handle seeing kids targeted. It doesn’t happen much, but as Clown reminds us, it does happen. And it’s brutal as hell when it does.

Clown is exactly the kind of film that leaves the viewer feeling filthy. By the time it’s all over you’re aching to rinse the nastiness from your body. There’s a very good reason that this film caused so much controversy once it wrapped production. It’s disturbing, on a number of levels, but to the credit of director Jon Watts (who also made the bad ass Kevin Bacon flick, Cop Car), it’s always crisp and clean.

Some won’t be too heavily impacted by Clown. The parents of the world, will.
