The Warriors

Note: I know it isn’t outright horror, but it’s certainly brutal enough to slide into fringe categorization.

Cyrus, the leader of the most powerful gang in New York City, the Gramercy Riffs, calls a midnight summit for all the area gangs, with all asked to send nine unarmed representatives for the conclave. A gang called The Warriors are blamed for killing Cyrus as he gives his speech. They now have to cross the territory of rivals in order to get to their own ‘hood. The Warriors slowly cross the dangerous Bronx and Manhattan territories, narrowly escaping police and other gangs every step of the way.

Dreamcatcher

Four childhood friends, Jonesy, Beaver, Pete and Henry all share a special secret. Each year, they take a trip into Maine woods. This year is different. A blizzard occurs, and they recover a man found wandering around. Unbeknownst to them,this wandering individual isn’t the only being to be found. Now they must act fast to stop the outbreak developing and to prevent the world from its doom.

The Devil’s Advocate

Devil’s Advocate thematically raises the preposition that ‘is winning everything’ in the legal profession.Does a lawyer commits the basic sin of Vanity if he believes his job is to win, as Kevin does. Further the movie in John Milton’s trenchant speech questions the very notion of righteousness in the post-modern world. Milton’s speech rips apart the whole discourse of religion when he presents the inherent contradiction of it. Kevin’s dilemma reflects the modern man who accuses the circumstances for being what he is,the culture dominated by making money ‘which build egos of the size of cathedral’, the question is can one really call what one does ‘freely-willed’?. The movie deals with these ‘Hamltian questions’ in a lawyer’s mind.

Mutant Chronicles

At the end of the Ice Age, The Machine came from outer space with the purpose to change men into mutants. However, a hero defeated the device and a great seal was laid over The Machine. In 2707, the depleted world is ruled by four Corporations: Mishima, Bauhaus, Capitol and Imperial that are in a constant state of war. During a battle between Capitol and Bauhaus, the great seal is broken and The Machine works again transforming soldiers and civilians into hordes of mutants. A small part of the population escapes to Mars, leaving millions of people behind. The man of faith and leader of an ancient brotherhood, Brother Samuel, is a believer in God and the Chronicles, a bible about the mutants from ancient times. With the city besieged by the mutants, he visits the Corporations’ leader Constantine, asking for an aircraft and twenty men for a suicide mission to destroy The Machine, planting a bomb and a detonator following the knowledge of the Chronicles. Congo

A megalomaniac C.E.O. sends his son into the dangerous African Congo on a quest for a source of diamonds large enough and pure enough to function as powerful laser communications transmitters (or is it laser weapons?). When contact is lost with his son and the team, his sometime daughter- in-law is sent after them.
