In Light of the Developing ‘Child’s Play 7’ We’re Ranking the Entire Franchise from First to Worst!
Bride of Chucky
1-10 Rating Scale: 7.5
The Verdict: At times, Bride of Chucky actually feels like it comes close to crossing the lines of indecency, willing to sacrifice story, jokes and effects (three things the franchise is known for) for outright cruelty. While I’m not too prissy when it comes to this kind of content, it felt a little strange coming from this particular franchise, because despite how different some of the sequels are, Mancini has always managed to draw a moral line in the sand and he’s always played bloodily but tastefully (as tasteful as possible) on the proper side of that line. Bride has a number of excellent sequences and a couple really, really far out characters, but it’s just a tad too cruel natured for my liking.
Synopsis: Chucky hooks up with another murderous doll, the bridal gown-clad Tiffany, for a Route 66 murder spree with their unwitting hosts, two eloping high-school graduates.
