It was only a matter of time before someone involved in the ill-fated Ghostbusters reboot openly defecated on the man’s character and abilities. Who would have thought that somebody would be ultra nice-guy, Dan Aykroyd?
I’d imagine a lot of people thought that, especially since Aykroyd was an Executive producer on the project.
“The director, he spent too much on it and he didn’t shoot scenes we suggested to him. Several scenes that were going to be needed, he said, ‘No, we don’t need them.’ And then we tested the movie and they needed them, and he had to go back — about $30 to $40 million in reshoots,” Aykroyd tells THR. However, an inside source claims reshoots ran in the $3-$4 million range.
In the end, Ghostbusters made $230 million worldwide, which was a major let down for the studio. It seems these proton-pack wearing ladies won’t be returning to the world of the macabre all too soon!
