Chester Bennington of Linkin Park Dead at 41

Chester Bennington, who fronted the immensely popular rock band, Linkin Park for years, filled a void for a few years in the Stone Temple Pilots, and even surfaced in Saw 3D: The Final Chapter, has died of an apparent suicide. He was 41 years old.

According to TMZ, he committed suicide. He hanged himself at his home, while his family was out of the residence. He was discovered by an employee.

Bennington was the father of six children.

The popular rock icon lived a grim past, dealing with substance addiction and, as a child, sexual abuse.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bennington’s family, his peers, and all of those who loved him for the man he was, and the cultural inspiration he became over the last decade and a half.

Rest in peace, Chester. I hope you find peace on the other side.
