The 10 Greatest Horror Movies of the 1990s
- Scream
Scream, like The Blair Witch Project had quite the impact on the horror genre, revitalizing the slasher subgenre and paving the way for multiple imitators, though its meta approach to horror wasn’t matched until The Cabin in the Woods came around. It wasn’t just that meta impact that made Scream such a success.
Boasting the now iconic Ghost Face killer, a great script and strong direction from the late Wes Craven, Scream was almost destined to become a classic, even its sequels (excluding the third one) are good movies in their own right.
Now I don’t love Scream as much other horror fans but I’ve seen it enough to know it warrants a place on this list. Its opening alone practically guaranteed it a spot.
