Barb of ‘Stranger Things’ and 12 Other Amazing Fan Favorite Characters Killed in Horror Movies
2 Quint – Jaws
When Steven Spielberg shot Jaws, it seemed a certified guarantee that we’d see plenty of summer chasers devoured while enjoying the chilly waves off the coast of Amity. Jaws is a killer shark movie, after all, and you can’t have much of a killer shark movie without a few water lovers being consumed in a few harsh bites.
We all saw that coming.
What we didn’t necessarily see coming is the demise of the most colorful character in the ensemble, Robert Shaw’s amazing character, Quint. This man is the life of the party. He’s the brash vocalist with a deep and dark history with sharks. He knows these vicious bastards like he knows the Jack Daniels label, and so, he seems a perfect fit to hunt down this man-eater that’s turning tourists into appetizers.
The thing is, Quint is so amazingly dominant – a true alpha – that it seemed unfathomable that he’d be the victim of the Great White that he, Brody and Hooper were hunting. But he is. And his death is as gruesome as any you’d spot on film in 1975.
His fate is an ugly one, and for those of us who found ourselves entangled in the beauty of the film were totally and utterly devastated when those razor-sharp teeth turned Quint into a three piece meal to go. Easily one of the most depressing on screen deaths in the history of cinema. Thanks, Spielberg… thanks a lot!
